Fix it first, replace it only if you have to
Our goal is to save you money. We do not push a big replacement when a smaller fix will work. A jammed disposal is often a quick job. A loose connection under the sink can be tightened. Sometimes the unit is worn out, and then we tell you so and explain why. You hear the choices before we start any work.
What happens when we put in a new garbage disposal
If you need a new unit, we take out the old insink garbage disposal and clean up the mounting spot under the sink flange. Then we do the mounting of the new garbage disposal and hook it to the drain line. We check the water connections and run it to make sure it does not leak. If the old one was put in poorly, we fix that too. Many of our calls in some towns are about repairing what someone else messed up, so we know what to look for.
Garbage disposal problems we see
A disposal that hums but does not spin is usually jammed. A unit that leaks may have a bad seal or a loose drain line. A bad smell can come from food stuck in the unit or in the pipe past it. A slow sink may be a clog in the drains and not the disposal at all. We look at the whole setup so you do not pay to fix the wrong part. If the trouble is the faucet or basin, our work on sinks covers that too.
The same crew, every visit
We send the same guys each day instead of a rotating crew. You see familiar faces, and they know your house and your kitchen. Sometimes homeowners call us after another company quoted them thousands of dollars more than what we do. We are glad to give a second look. Our work reaches homes in Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, Greenwood, and Indianapolis. You can see every town on our areas we serve list.
Common questions
Small bits of soft food scraps are fine, with cold water running. Keep grease, bones, coffee grounds, pasta, rice, and stringy or fibrous peels out of it. Never put in glass, plastic, metal, or anything that is not food.
That sound usually means something is stuck inside and the blades cannot turn. Turn the power off before you touch anything. Do not put your hand in the unit. If it keeps happening, call us and we will clear it or tell you if the unit is done.
We try to repair first, because that often saves you money. If the unit is worn out or leaking from the body, a new one is the better choice. We tell you which it is before we start.
